Academic Eligibility


At Bharathidasan Engineering College, the eligibility criteria for admission to various courses are detailed below:

The minimum eligibility marks for Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Academic and Vocational streams are based on the average percentage of marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

  • General Category: A pass with a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry put together.
  • Backward Class (including Backward Class Muslims): A pass with a minimum of 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry put together.
  • Most Backward Class (MBC) and Denotified Communities (DNC): A pass with a minimum of 40% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry put together.
  • Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Caste (Arunthathiyars) (SCA), and Scheduled Tribe (ST): A pass with a minimum of 40% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry put together.

Candidates must have completed the qualifying examination with the necessary subjects and meet the minimum percentage required for their respective categories.

  • Admission is subject to fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria and complying with Government of Tamil Nadu reservation policies.
  • Candidates are required to submit all original certificates and documents for verification during the admission process.
  • Students are advised to stay updated on entrance examination notifications and deadlines from Anna University or the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), Tamil Nadu.

Candidates applying for postgraduate programs must meet the following qualifications:

Minimum Qualification
  • A pass in a recognized bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination for general category candidates.
  • For candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, SCA, ST, MBC, DNC, and BC, the minimum requirement is 45% marks.
Entrance Examination
  • Candidates must appear for the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) conducted by Anna University or any other qualifying examination recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
